Cravings, Addictions and Anticipation

I have worked with many people in the past on cravings with some success, but sometimes there is an exception and recent research may be pointing to the reason why.

When we work on cravings with tapping we get the person to sniff the chocolate taking in the aroma and we may well tap on the enjoyment we are going to have, knowing also that we are going to eat the chocolate, but there is one missing piece in the treatment process and that is that over many many years we have built up anticipation of getting the reward, so that when we see chocolate or other confectionary we have a spike or rush.

This has been created over years of conditioning and sugar companies use this to their advantage, so when you see the wrapper you are already high and that is caused by the anticipation, not just the eating of it. Continue reading

The Meditation and Alpha State

What I have discovered through working with others when using the process is that the method allows you to slip into an alpha state of mind gently and simply. An “alpha state of mind” is what scientists associate with “right brain” activity, or our subjective senses of imagination, creativity, memory, and intuition. When you are actively awake, you are typically in a state of mind known as Beta, with brainwave activity between 14 and 30 HZ. When your brain wave activity slows down to between 7 and 14 HZ, you are said to be in an alpha state. The state helps to create a “relaxed” state of mind that allows you to be more:

  •     receptive
  •     open
  •     creative
  •     less critical of yourself
  •     less likely to sabotage your results

In history, Edison, Einstein, and many other brilliant minds, considered a daily ritual of accessing an alpha state of mind essential to the discoveries that in time changed the world we live in. How can Tapping Help?

A recent survey came out of people in Britain that found a very disturbing trend which shows that the average pensioner 65 and over, is on an average of five medications and that some people were even on over 20 medications. You may need a medication. I’m not in any way putting down what goes on in surgeries, although they do get bonuses currently in the United Kingdom for prescribing drugs.

We do sometimes need all those things, but we need them in context and we need alternatives when applicable and beneficial to the patient. Electrical Energy and the Meridians

More recently I have been drawn to more scientific concepts using theories based on brain science, in that when we touch points on the face or body, we are interfering with the neurological processes of the brain and sending messages that we are safe.

As you think about a negative thought or replay an emotional event in your mind, the touch sends a signal to the brain to say that you are safe in this moment of time, this then stops the neurological connection from happening in the brain and peace is then returned and the negative thought is dissipated.
